From John 6. In which Jesus’ teaching sounds an awful lot like an invitation to cannibalism as far as his disciples are concerned.
Second Year Room – Peile 114

Hopes for the Year Ahead
As much a list of hopes as it is a list of reminders of what’s important before I go back to uni. Hopes to talk less about myself. To say ‘I love you’ more often and to more people. To have more compassion and less pride. To share in the lives of others, to delight in the fun and mess of life. To discover I’m wrong about things and change my mind. To rejoice in the everyday. To remember to be gentle with myself if things get hard.
Duty + Self Forgetfulness
From Luke 17. May we serve in such a way that we reach the evening and delight in being a part of our master’s household, however menial and tiring the work, rather than bemoaning the aching of our feet after a long day.
Prayer + Self Forgetfulness
From Luke 18. Prayer is about becoming nothing so that God may be everything. That when we decrease, Jesus may increase in our place. We are to be able to say, to use a phrase Miriam Swaffield once used, ‘when you see me, see the one who made me’.
Bye for Now
Yesterday my job at Pembroke College came to an end and I said goodbye to some very special people, who are owed some thank yous. Thankfully, the goodbyes we said yesterday are goodbyes for now, and not goodbyes forever. ^.^
Jesus the Feminist
The Gospels show that Jesus invites, restores and saves women. The only qualification to be a disciple, or one who teaches, leads, heals, serves or prophecies in the name of Jesus is a love of God. And gender could never disqualify anyone from that.
Omotenashi – Japanese Hospitality
In which I wear an orange angler fish hat made from paper, am cooked delicious Japanese curry, and dance to AKB48’s ‘Foochun Kukki’.
For Tabitha, a year before her wedding day
A letter to a Tabitha ahead of August 2017 when I will cry many tears as she walks down the aisle as a beautiful bride.
Growing Better not Bitter
A reflection on the story behind the hymn ‘It is Well with my Soul’ and Luke 8. Learning to grow in faith and be transformed by God.
Visits to London, Ely, Stonehenge and Bath + extra life details
A look back at the four wonderful places I have visited in the past week all as part of my job at Pembroke College. Lots of fun, lots of joy, lots of excitement
“My Eyes Have Seen Your Salvation”
The first two chapters of Luke. Being captivated by Jesus’ salvation and grace for me.
