I have been thinking about Home ever since I got asked in the Praxis One course to complete the sentence ‘I want the story of my life to be the story of someone who….‘
The answer that sits best for at the moment is, ‘I want the story of my life to be the story of someone who walks people home‘.
Walking is about sharing, connecting and being-with. It’s about journeying and courage, and it has direction and intention.
Home is about shelter, safety, rest, and more profoundly, being-found. Home is also about finding. Finding the truest source of joy and goodness.
I believe home is to be found with God, now –
“You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and…
And in a true homecoming someday –
…I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.”

How do you finish the sentence, ‘I want the story of my life to be the story of someone who….‘?
Where, what, when, who is home?
….who stands by me through thick and thin. And it is He who promised that He would not leave us orphans. “I Am with you always. Even unto the end of time.”
