My everything & my All in All

Lord,

Be the grace
Be the peace
Be the quiet place,
In my joy
In my hurts
In amidst my busy thoughts.
Be the first
Be the last
Be the one constant,
In my rising
In my waking
In my rested, restless heart.
Be the strength
Be the source
Be the living water,
In my weakness
In my lacking
In my aching thirst.
Be the everything
Be the all
Be the only.
Be the everything, my everything, be my all in all.

These words I inadvertently composed in my head as I’ve been working today. They are, I think, semi in response to a few of the verses that have been with me since I read them at the end of last week. They’re from the very last chapter of the bible, Revelations 22:

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End….

16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

This week the Christian Union at my uni is running an events week (https://www.unexpectedcambridge.com/). We are hoping to make Jesus known to the students around us because we know the beauty of the grace of the Lord Jesus, and it’s worth sharing! I’m praying that students across my university would encounter something of this grace this next week.

I pray too that the beauty of this grace, of this invitation to be one of God’s people, is not lost on you today.

Lord, thank you that you are everything, our everything, our all in all.
